Is the triple jump just like the long jump?

Opposites Attract

So, you're a decent long jumper, you're pretty fast, but you'd like someone triple jump tips to follow to see how you'd do. Triple jump tip #1: your run should be the same number of steps and the same approach speed as your long jump run, but opposite.

If you take off the board in the long jump with your left leg, you run off the board in the triple jump on your right leg so that your last and most powerful jump at the end of the triple jump is off your most dominant leg.

i am an athlete in highschool and i've seen many triple jump and also from my experience i find that finishing with your most dominant leg seems to usualy be a foot or so less then two steps with your dominant leg

i was reading over the triple jump tips. One tip said to start with your dominant leg, so your dominant leg touches the ground 2 times. In this tip you should take off with you non-dominant leg. Which is it?

you're last jump really isn't the most important. you get the most distance from your middle faze and it is crucial for the jump to have the longest middle faze as possible.

False. Your first two phases of the triple jump should be with your dominant leg because you are covering the most distance and doing the most work with this leg. Therefore, it needs to be your strongest.

You should actually take off on the same foot as you would do in long jump. Basically you need to use your stronger foot for the two jumps rather than just the end one.
